What’s the difference between marble and granite?
Although both are stones quarried from the earth, granite and marble (including limestone, onyx and travertine) are very different from each other. The biggest variances are in the absorbency, softness and durability of marble when compared to granite.
Do I have to buy the whole slab?
No. At USMG, we stock our own stone, so you can buy any size you need for your project. From a square foot to a full slab, we require no minimums.

Why is granite recommended for kitchen counters?
Granite is highly resistant to scratching, cracking and staining, and is not vulnerable to heat.
Does granite burn?
No. You can't burn granite with ordinary use. Due to its distinctive durability, it is perfectly fine to set hot pots or pans directly from the stove or oven onto granite.
How do I care for my granite?
Warm soapy water will clean your stone well. You can also use cleaners specifically formulated to help clean and protect stone surfaces
Cabinets
My drawer front is crooked. How can I fix that?
The drawer front is adjustable. Loosen two screws in the back of the drawer front, even out the drawer front and retighten the screws.
Is there anything I can do for a scratched cabinet?
Most cabinet scratches can be restored using a special kit available at USMG. It includes a touch-up marker, filler pencil and fast-dry touch-up.
How can I prevent discoloration to the white cabinets next to my oven?
When utilizing the “self-cleaning” feature on your oven, open all drawers and doors on the cabinetry closest to your oven. This will avoid cabinet damage that can occur due to the high heat your oven produces.
How do I clean my cabinets?
It is recommended you clean the exterior of your cabinetry once a month to protect the wood and bring out its natural beauty. Wipe the surface with a clean, damp cloth, then dry. Do not wax.
